Efisio Farris was born in the town of Orosei, Sardinia, which is nestled on the East side of the island. Today Efisio owns and operates Arcodoro Restaurant in Houston. In his pursuit to spread his passion for Sardinian cuisine, he has written a cookbook "Sweet Myrtle & Bitter Honey" which was published by Rizzoli in New York.
He has appeared on the Martha Stewart Show, Food Network, has traveled the country giving demonstrations, and has launched his own specialty import company called Gourmet Sardinia. Farris has been featured in Gourmet, Cooking Light (he also served on their 2009 Nutrition Advisory Board), Saveur, Food & Wine, La Cucina Italiana, Southern Living, Wine Spectator magazines as well as USA Today, and The New York Times Efisio and his team have cooked at the James Beard House two times.
In June 2008, he was honored by the Republic of Italy, with the title of Cavaliere, a lifetime achievement award for his work promoting Italian culture in America.
